Aggies Are in Forbes
Published Nov 20, 2008

March 2, 1836, is a significant holiday in the Lone Star State.

On that day, Texas declared its independence from Mexico, and the site where it happened is Washington-on-the-Brazos in Washington County. The 293-acre park hosts an annual Texas Independence Day Celebration each March, and the park has several attractions – including the Star of the Republic Museum, the Barrington Living History Farm (above) and the Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site.
