Students Help Test Fuel Cells

Kelly Andrews is president and CEO of Bryan-based TesSol Inc., which makes test equipment for fuel-cell R&D.
TesSol Inc. is once again a Brazos County company. And proud of it.
With a history that includes both Lynntech Inc. and Lynntech Industries as well as Fideris Inc., the company that began in College Station eventually became a Delaware corporation with headquarters in Lowell, Mass.
Now in Bryan, TesSol has positioned itself as a leading independent provider of test equipment for fuel-cell research and development.
“We’re now completely separated from Lynntech and are an employee-owned company,” says Craig Andrews, director of technology at TesSol (the name having been derived from “test solutions”).
His wife, Kelly, is TesSol’s president and chief executive officer.
The development of highly efficient fuel cells has become increasingly important in the search for renewable energy, and TesSol is assisting companies engaged in the exploration.
Andrews says the company plans to capitalize on the brainpower and work ethic of students at Texas A&M University.
“When the company first started as Lynntech, it was built up by utilizing students on a part-time basis,” Andrews says. “From engineering to sales to software, we’re much more reliant on the skills of our part-time students. They’re highly qualified and motivated, and it’s a skilled work force that you’re just not able to get in a lot of places.”
